The National Association of Letter Carriers sponsors the largest one-day food drive in the United States on Mother's Day weekend each year. This year's event will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011.
The 19th Annual "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the United States, is set for Saturday, May 14. Residents are asked to leave nonperishable food donations in bags or boxes by their mailboxes.
More than 350,000 pounds of food was donated to Second Harvest North Florida through the NALC event in 2010 - the event's largest Jacksonville total ever - and the goal is to secure even more pounds in 2010.
It starts with one can. To feed the hungry. To lift the spirit. To change the world. Canstruction, a charity committed to ending hunger, is using ‘one can’ as a catalyst for change.
Approximately 100,000 pounds of food have been collected and donated to Second Harvest North Florida over the last nine years.

The inaugural Second Harvest North Florida Hunger Caravan took to the roads and delivered important food resources to more than 350 low-income households in Alachua County on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
Even if the Jacksonville Jaguars won't win every game on the field this season, Jaguars fans can still help their team win each week in the battle against hunger. Jacksonville Jaguars fans can help the Second Harvest North Florida again this season in the “Click For Cans” promotion presented by Campbell's® Chunky™ soup.
Jaguar fans will battle it out each week in the fight against hunger by using their computers to make a difference in their community. Each week the Jaguars will be matched up against another NFL team. Fans from both teams can vote once each day to help the Jaguars win for that week. The top eight teams advance to the “playoffs” following the regular season. Fans will have an opportunity to vote for the top AFC and NFC teams, which will then be matched up in the Chunky championship. One overall winner will take home the “Click For Cans” crown.
Come out and support Second Harvest North Florida and help provide important resources to those in need throughout north Florida. Food donations will be accepted on Sept. 24 and 25 at the St. Johns Town Center and Orange Park Mall.
Second Harvest North Florida is teaming up with First Coast News and the United Way for the second year in a row to ensure that needy families have enough food.
The Be A Hero Food Drive will culminate with a community-wide event Sept. 24-25.
First Coast News will be at various collection sites, including the Orange Park Mall and the St. Johns Town Center.
The donations will benefit the families and children served by the agencies that Second Harvest North Florida.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At a time when more and more families in Florida face the threat of going hungry, Second Harvest North Florida announced today that Chase will donate of two state-of-the-art refrigerated food delivery trucks, supplying the First Coast’s hungry with fruits, vegetables and other fresh foods. Chase also generously donated funds to operate each of these trucks for the first year.
