Racing For Hunger - 2011

Second Harvest North Florida is kicking its efforts to fight hunger into high gear in 2011 and forging an important partnership with Vito Racing that will allow racing enthusiasts to contribute to the cause of fighting hunger through support of the "Racing To End Hunger" campaign.

Vito Racing will drive the Second Harvest North Florida "Feed Hope" car as it competes in the 2011 International Motor Sports Association's (IMSA) Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship. The series opens a seven-race schedule in March in Sebring, Fla., concluding in October with the Petit Le Mans in Atlanta.

The Racing to End Hunger campaign seeks to raise critical funds to help Second Harvest gather and distribute 23 million pounds of food in 2011 – a 21 percent increase over the more than 19 million pounds of food distributed in 2010. The team's goal is to raise $1 million through Racing to End Hunger for Second Harvest.

Tim Vito, founder and owner of Craig Air Field since 1985, will drive the Feed Hope car. Vito is a world class race car driver and a certified airline transport pilot, commercial helicopter pilot, seaplane pilot, scuba diver, master skydiver and flight instructor. Added to that list now is a leader in the fight against hunger.

To meet his goal of $1 million, Tim is asking the First Coast community to contribute to Second Harvest in support of his 2011 racing season.
