The 20th Annual Jacksonville FOODFIGHT on June 10, 2010, proved to be the biggest and best party in the history of the event – attracting more participants, more patrons and more dollars than ever before.
More than 1,200 attended the annual fundraiser for Second Harvest North Florida – partaking in some of the area’s finest eats and drinks from 55 restaurants, caterers and beverage wholesalers at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium’s Touchdown Club East. The event raised more than $95,000 for Second Harvest – which will generate more than 570,000 meals for people in need.
“It was a tremendous evening of fun that is vitally important to our mission of serving hungry families,” said Thomas Mantz, Second Harvest executive director. “The support of the restaurant community, and the time and energy they put into this event is what makes it so special each year. We at Second Harvest can’t adequately express our gratitude to all who made the evening so great."
Each year the event is organized by the volunteer committee of chairman Eddie Fink, Jim Mace and Bob Conrad. Each was honored with a special gift at this year’s event.
The winner of this year’s FOODFIGHT, as selected for best presentation by its fellow participants, was Tacolu. Second place was awarded to Ragtime/Seven Bridges. Third place was awarded to bb’s and biscotti’s.
A raffle was also held at the event this year – with winners receiving Jaguars club level season tickets (Robin Sorensen) and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle (Don Nicol).
