Jacksonville, FL (November 19, 2012) --- It’s the season for giving and Nourishment Network North Florida is fortunate to receive donations from the Plum Creek Foundation, Southeast Toyota, and All My Sons Moving & Storage.  Those donations will help the nonprofit distribute food to 450 member agencies that feed over 342,000 food insecure people in the 17 county north Florida area.

On Monday, November 18, Plum Creek Foundation presented a check in the amount of $4,000 which will be used to pay for four 8,400-pound distributions via the Nourishment Network North Florida mobile pantry program.  Each distribution, an entire semi-truck, provides food for about 200 to 300 food insecure families in their own neighborhoods.

On Tuesday, November 19, Southeast Toyota will donate over 800 lbs. of food contributed by their employees during a recent food drive.  In addition to the food, employees contributed $6,350 in cash.  As Nourishment Network can stretch a dollar into seven meals, this cash donation will feed 44,450 people.

Also on Tuesday, November 19, All My Sons Moving & Storage will be delivering a moving truck loaded with $3,000 of food that they purchased from the Publix warehouse as part of their ‘Operation Giving Thanks.’

“We could not do the work we do without the support of great sponsors, generous donors and passionate volunteers,” said Bruce Ganger, executive director of Nourishment Network North Florida.  “This year we’ve seen the need for food increase and despite increasing our distribution to 24 million pounds it is not enough.”

Nourishment Network is asking for donors to ‘turn a dollar into something more filling’ this holiday season through cash donations to the organization.  In order to meet the needs experienced by the food insecure, one in six adults and one in four children, Nourishment Network will need to raise its food distribution to 40 million pounds by 2015.
